[VU+ Duo2] Is it possible to hide network mount passwords

$

Dear forum,

When creating or viewing Network Mounts via Menu - Setup - Network - Mounts - Mount Manager - Add a new network mount or Mountpoints management
is it possible to hide or mask passwords (with * etc) ?

I have a NAS. It has a large photo folder share and an even larger music folder share. I setup mounts on my Vu+ Duo2 to connect to my NAS and this allows me to listen to music and / or view my photos via my duo on the TV. However, it strikes me that anyone who has access to my remote control or my duo can see passwords to my network shares which is not exactly ideal or secure. Thus my question.

I hope I have posted in the correct forum. Please see my sig for my duo details. Many thanks.

syslog logging to another device.

Hey,

I am trying to configure syslogd to forward the logs to another host but am unable to get it working

from what i can see in the "/etc/init.d/syslog" it looks like it is pulling the config from "/etc/syslog-startup.conf" but after adding my remote host like below the logs are not being sent.

Code:

# This configuration file is used by the busybox syslog init script,
# /etc/init.d/syslog[.busybox] to set syslog configuration at start time.

DESTINATION=file                # log destinations (buffer file remote)
LOGFILE=/var/log/messages        # where to log (file)
REMOTE=192.168.0.30:514                # where to log (syslog remote)
REDUCE=no                        # reduce-size logging
DROPDUPLICATES=no                # whether to drop duplicate log entries
#ROTATESIZE=0                        # rotate log if grown beyond X [kByte]
#ROTATEGENS=3                        # keep X generations of rotated logs
BUFFERSIZE=64                        # size of circular buffer [kByte]
FOREGROUND=no                        # run in foreground (don't use!)
LOGLEVEL=5                        # local log level (between 1 and 8)

I am sniffing the traffic from engima2 device and i can not see any traffic being sent out on port 514 after restarting syslog and rebooting the box.

Any idea where i should specifily the remote host. I have also tired adding the remote host to this "/etc/syslog.conf" in the usual syslog format but no luck with that either.
Code:

#  /etc/syslog.conf        Configuration file for busybox's syslogd utility
*.*                                      @192.168.0.30

On another note I dont see any auth logs. is there a way to enable this

VU+ UNO tuner questions

Pardon me for being a bit of a dumbo on this subject but what does this mean specifically:

THIS VERSION IS FITTED WITH TWIN DVB-S2X FBC TUNER MODULE***
***CABLE DVB-C FBC TUNER VERSION CLICK HERE***
***TERRESTRIAL TWIN DVB-T2 VERSION CLICK HERE**

Looking at the back picture, I see it has dual tuners and / or 2 connectors for twin satellite feed. For a twin satellite feed do I need to make any changes or ask for anything that meets with what I have, ie twin satellite feed in.

Thanks

Ubuntu 18.04 (or later) file manager replacement for Nautilus

I have just moved to Ubuntu 18.04 and hate the new Nautilus.
I hate the way Ubuntu have removed the file transfer box from Nautilus (since 17.04??) and was looking at Nemo as a replacement.

Basically I like to be able to see both what is happening during large data/directory transfers and have the option of cancel - this has been ripped out of Nautilus - so having googled looking at Nemo.

Anyone have any experiences?

Diseqc or equivalent for 3 unicable LNB's

At the moment I have a unicable LNB pointing at 28.2 and 2 universal LNB's pointing at 13.0 and 19.2.
I have 5 receivers which all have twin sat tuners, 3 of them have FBC tuners and 2 have standard tuners.
Is it possible to replace my universal LNB's with unicable LNB's and have feeds from all 3 sats to all receivers?
I have got 2 receivers set up with 28.2 on one FBC tuner and the other tuner as diseqc for the other 2 feeds at the moment but ideally I would like to be able to receive all sats on all receivers.

Upgrade/update HD51

I have been looking at the VU + Uno as an upgrade to my Mutant HD51 box, but the price was a bit more that I wanted to pay. Also, as the zgemma H7S and Octogon SF8008 boxes were recommended in other threads, I have looked at those as well.
.
I have a twin cable satellite feed in, and would want a box which has twin receivers. My HD51 has a fitted hard drive, and the zgemma H7S has that option as well, but the SF8008 has a usb hard drive option. Is that a hard drive in a usb enclosure plugged into a usb socket.

Also what is the difference between the 2 SF8008 boxes, where 1 has 5 stars and 3 reviews, but the other has neither.
Edit:
The one with 5 stars and 3 reviews is a combo receiver and , if I read this right, it has twin satellite receivers, DVB-S2X, and DBV-C/T2. This box is cheaper than the other one, which does not have a C/T2 receiver/connection.

Looking at the picture for the back of both receivers, they both look the same with 1 satellite and 1 C/T2 connections.

A further point is that the SF8008 has:
Hisilicon Hi3798MV200 Huawei
- Quad Core 64Bit (4x 1.6GHz) 15000 DMIPS
- Flash 8GB eMMC
- RAM 1GB DDR4

Which looks impressive comapred to my HD51.

The zgemma, however has:
ARM Brahma 15 Dual Core 1700Mhz 12K DMIPS
BCM7251S Dual Core Mainchipest

Are there any other comparable satellite boxes which have roughly the same specs as the SF8008, or should I just go for the SF8008 , with 5 stars and 3 reviews.

Thanks

[VU+ Duo2] New version?

Just wondering.. I tried to update my box today but I was told version 5.2 would not get any more updates and that I had to download a new full image and then reinstall.
But now I have had a look around but as far as I can see, there is no newer version than 5.2.045, am I blind or?
