This issue has been around for years. I am posting it just to highlight it once again and maybe it can be fixed or improved.

When I run a Browse Network from Network - Mounts, The UI states "Searching your Network, please wait" and it just stays like that forever. I am unable to intercept it in anyway. I cannot press any of the coloured buttons nor the power button on the remote. The only option I have to regain control of the box is the power button at the back of the box itself.

Could this be fixed? Maybe add a timeout? Also could it be made multi-threaded so that the user retains some control and can cancel it.

Iam coming from a Python/C/Cpp OOP Data Science AI background, but i wanna to learn Web and Javascript.

Iam not focusing in Front-End, i really dont care too much about HTML and CSS (although i know its necessary to be knowing the minimal). I wanna to know the backend, web, devops (maybe as a plus overtime...), Javascript/web Design Patterns and nomenclature.

Iam now unemployed, i need a good course costing a reasonable amount. Maybe like a good Udemy course, but i cant find myself the best ones that fits my wii given above.

Iam also seeking for autonomy in doing projects to earn money (like freelancing, but not so in dispair ... lol). Since i already know big software systems (studied a lot the Tensorflow repository and another Data Science directed repos such Numpy), i dont think will be a great problem to learn Fullstack Web/Javascript, but to choose a good start alone seemed a little (or too much) Xeno to me.

I appreciate your help.

I have setup 2 different symlinks up on DCC. One to take me directly to plugins, and the other to take me directly to my oscam files (etc/tuxbox/config).
Although I have them both ticked in backup manager, after updating image, only the plugin one is there. It doesn't save the oscam files one.
This is not a recent problem. I have had it on every update for a while now
Any ideas why?

As part of a new build, I am putting in the TV distribution.
3 TV points will have 2 coax (and one Cat6) cables back to a single point.

I think the above setup would work fine for either type of satellite LNB
The man differences I see are:

Unicable II advantages
Signal can be split (not really a big one for me)
A single cable can provide multiple feeds from the dish. (I am considering getting a STB with FBC tuners which would maximise this)

Unicable II disadvantages
Receiver needs to be Unicable compatible. I believe pretty much everything made in the last 5 years will work.

Does anyone see any reason why not to go with a Unicable II LNB?

Hi,

When I try and scan on saorview (Ireland). I am finding 0 channels. I have another Zgemma H7 and and I can tune that in without issue using the same aerial point.
I'm pretty sure its configured corrected. I have correct Channel and my settings look correct.

Any suggestions as to why it not finding and channels?

I am running Openvix V5 on a vu Solo 4K but I cannot find a way to sort channels alphabetically in my favourites bouquets. Apart from the 'ALL' listings all the bouquet lists always sort ad-hoc according to the order of the satellite scans.

Also, I would like to see the channel frequencies/PIDs etc (and ideally the encryption type too) in the full list of channels rather than just the one that is currently selected. Is this possible? Thanks.

I had a problem where the box would not reboot so i reflashed and it sorted that problem but now if i have 2 programs already in the system it will record both as before but it wont let me add any timer and i have a page of failurs coming up from my autotimer.

very confused is it a bug or have i done somthing wrong.

I recently went to image 5.3.009 and installed MediaPortal from the plugins, but a number of feeds weren't opening so when I got an update available notification I updated, the problem was after the update no feeds were opening and when I delete the plugin and reinstall from the plugins back to the original plugin I am back with some feeds opening and others not opening, so I presuming it is a problem with the portal update and not a bug in the image because I am not getting any crashes.

I recall having a similar problems when I needed to load some ipk files in a set order but that was with about 18 months ago, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a complete newb to Linux STBs, but have plenty of Linux experience – already proving useful.

I have a Zgemma H7S, initially for Freesat and French terrestrial, which is going to take the place of my original Freesat+ box. It's quite a learning curve, but you can't beat a good gadget! ;) Lots of good stuff here and I hope to be able to contribute in some small way when I have a better idea of what I'm doing ...

I could not think of a better thread title as I barely know the terminology to use. I am used to a Windows box running WMC and if I switch to another channel that channel starts to buffer the viewed channel automatically. I can pause or rewind to the point that the channel was changed and if I press record the box will record from the moment the channel was changed. I have it set to 60 minutes so that phone or other interruptions do not cause me to have to press record.
Can I do this with an Enigma box such as a Vu+ Duo2 or a Zgemma H7S and if I can do I have to make several keystrokes to start or is it automatic?

Hi,

Can anyone advise on how I can update to the latest Vix image via USB and not lose my settings?

I tried updating through Menu - Setup - System - Software update , but it just hangs on the update screen and nothing happens, forcing me to power off

Could it be possible to adapt something so we van choose the shown items under blue button ? Precisaly EPG refresh and LCD4 buttons removed ?
Some buttons as oscam config or softcam manager can be choosen to show or not. Pls maybe make this possible to all items.

Hello, I am a newby - I bought this from World-of-Satellite yesterday.

and have spent hrs on setup and have got it to see the dual LNB (19.2 & Hotbird). I have done a scan and have a jumbles mess of channels. So...

1) Is there an editor that will work with this box (Amiko Viper) - I tried Dreambox editor - FTA connection OK Password OK - then error messages

2) is there a way to scan FTA channels only ? - I have seen no mention of FTA in any menu.

I had a motorised dish installed a few years ago by purplesat and its been fine. I haven't used it for a few weeks and went to scan in a feed last night and was getting no signal which was odd. After trying a few other sats and going out to have a look at the dish it wasn't moving. I tried reseating the cable into the back of the receiver and powering it off to no avail, I could see a green light on the motor when looking up at the dish last night.

Any idea how I can kick it back into life, preferably without going up a ladder that i don't have.

I have no idea what brand the motor is.

Receiver is a VU+ solo 4k running latest vix version.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A partir do dia 31 de Outubro de 2019 a Cccam ou oscam disponilizada, na imagem referida deixou de funcionar na plataforma NOS (Hispasat), apesar de quando instalada funcionar durante algum tempo e depois parar, começou por parar em alguns canais passando pelos HD que foram os primeiros.

Wanting to remove password from my edision mini, to pass it on to a friend, if I do a fresh usb flash, with no restore, and set up the unit from scratch, will this remove the password ive set for user = root password = xxxxxxxxxx ??
