VU+ Player HD buffering issue

Hi, im not sure if this is the correct place to post this question but i am looking for some help with VU+player HD app buffering issue.
I have a VU+ Ultimo 4k box running Openvix 5.3.033 and have the VU+ Player HD app installed on my iphone 8.
I have forwarded ports on my Virgin Superhub 3 to be able to stream from my STB to my phone at remote locations, it works fine if i'm on someones wifi but when i switch over to cellular network the picture buffers every few seconds and becomes unwatchable. As far as i can see i have the settings in Openwebif set correctly and running a speedtest through BT cellular network on iphone im getting around 20mbits download speed which should be plenty to handle the stream.
Not sure if theres a more up to date app available ?
Any help appreciated.

Would it/should it just downscale and play or not?

HDMI Splitter - 1 In 2 Out Not Simultaneously

I'm looking for HDMI switches/splitters for 2 AVRs.

Denon AVRX250BT output max 1080p from satellite receiver, 4K capable but no sat channels yet, to either TV, 1m HDMI lead, or projector, 10m HDMI lead installed 2008. All at 1080p. So I think a fairly basic one will do.

Vu+ Ultimo 4K - will it do what I want?

I wish to reduce the clutter under the TV by replacing three of my boxes with just one. Before spending around 500 GBP on a new box, I need to know if it will pass muster.

The three boxes are Technomate TM-7102, Technisat Digit ISIO S and Technisat Digit ISIO STC. The Technomate is quite long in the tooth with its phant0mpatch firmware, but it is a very flexible FTA receiver. The ISIO S's two CI+ slots is home to Fransat and Tivusat and CAM and card combos and the ISIO STC's card slot is home to a HD+ card.

The Vu+ Ultimo 4K has two CI slots and two card slots. Can these be configured for the two CAM and card combos and HD+ card with one of the firmwares available from your sponsor?

[VU+ Solo2] Receiver crashes when recording enabled and gets stuck in boot up loop

Hi,

Recently I've been experiencing random crashes that then put my solo2 into a boot loop between the openvix launch screen and a black screen. Only way to get it out of this loop is to turn it off/on with the rocker switch on the back.

It happens every time a new recording is manually performed and also from pre existing timers, I think it happens with crossEPG and auto bouquets manager too as these update early morning and sometimes the solo2 is in the boot up loop when I switch on the TV in the morning.

I have tried to find the crash log but cannot find it (I thought it was in /media/hdd/logs but logs dir isn’t there?)
Does anyone know where the logs are stored? Or what this issue might be? Is my hdd on its way out?

I know I’m on an older vix version, but it was solid until recently. I will update soon.

I also thought that my hdd might be full so I removed some recordings and it reports that its sitting at 47% now.

HDR Mode

Good morning,

Can anyone who has this box ever get the HDR to automatically engage? Obviously no live TV uses it atm, but when using Kodi or a VOD program of some kind and playing a file that supports HDR, it never engages for me. Other boxes I have using the same OpenATV 6.4 image do this with no issues, just can't get the HD61 to work. I have also tried this with OpenVIX and PurE2 images, and the same issue persists. I have the HDR settings set to Auto in the Menu/Setup/Video settings. I am assuming that should be enough, but am I missing something?

[Zgemma H7] 5.4 developer builds can't do filesystem check

I'm sure at some point with 5.3 images I remember it was possible to do:
Menu / Setup / Storage / Filesystem Check
and choose your box's internal hard drive then
press Green for Check
and an fsck would be done on the hard drive.
This worked even if Timeshift was active.

However now with the 5.4 images It doesn't ever seem to work even if Timeshift is not active.
I always get a message:
umount: Can't unmount /media/hdd: Device or resource busy

Hello again. I’m confused. Nothing new there :-)
I’m getting a lot of buffering within my lan while watching my Vu+4K on a iOS app - both eremote pro and vu+ player hd. This is regardless of whether I am close to the router / modem or not. In terms of the streaming from the box to the iPad is this affected by the transcoding plugin setup or is that purely for watching via the webif gui? And in any case what are the best default settings for the transcoding plugin? Thanks.

Hi, I purchased VU+ DVB-S2/S2X FBC Twin Tuner Duo 4k, Uno 4K, Uno 4K SE, Ultimo 4K ( 8 Demodulators ) this from the sponsor on 8th April 2020 for an Uno4k, but item is currently not needed due to box playing up so looking to recoup on the tuner module itself.

This is for tuner module only, in which I paid £85.08 inc delivery.

Box unresponcive to remote

Hi,
Our box is getting very unresponsive to the remote, it can take 20 or 30 seconds sometimes before it responds. I think this possibly started a couple of months ago and is getting worse, box indicates it is receiving a command from remote but does not do anything.
Have tried several sets of new batteries and a clean install of openvix but no difference and openvix does not give the spinning vix sign when it happens.
So wondered if anyone might have any ideas.

[Zgemma H9S] Crash When Opening H9SDcard Manager

Hi all,

Ive just received my Zgemma H9s which I purchased from the sponsor. It came pre-loaded with openvix. I followed the instructions on moving the image from the nand flash to the sd card. After I initialising and rebooting, I can see the H9SDcard Manager option under the vix menu but when I select that the box crashes. I have attached the crash log below.

Could someone tell me why Im having this issue please? (I am also using the sd card which I purchased from the sponsor)

Just flashed latest 5.3.039. Now can't browse files in windows 10.

Hi,
I have just flashed the lates vix image 5.3.039 as a clean usb install.
Now I can't browse my files in windows 10 file explorer.
I can SSH into the cmd line with Putty.
If I put the ip address into file explorer it opens up fine.
I have SAMBA installed and running.
I seem to remeber having a problem like this when I forst set it up but can't find a fix here or elsewhere.
I have seen other threads on the same issue but non give any answer as to how to set it up.
Is there a guide to setting this up anywhere or can anyone give me some ideas?
Any input appreciated.

Looking for Satellite receiver with 4 Sat Tuners | Also need Freeview Splitter

I'm looking for a box as cheap as possible (used or new) with 4 satellite tuners or 2 sat tuners but it allows me to add a 2nd sat twin tuner. I've already got a VU+ Duo 2. If I buy another is it possible to change the remote frequency otherwise one remote will control both boxes at the same time?

Also looking for a freeview splitter so I can split my freeview cable that comes out of the wall into multiple cables. Any suggestions and will I still be able to watch different live channels on each box if I split the freeview cable?

TV Programme Notifications

I rarely watch some channels so they're not worth putting in my favorite channel list on my receiver but on rare occasions they have something that I want to watch. For example: BT Sport 3 HD has old Mike Tyson boxing matches. The BT Sport channels sometimes have old Manchester United matches (sometimes called Man Utd). My VU+ Duo 2 can't record those channels but I'd like a notification somehow so I can record them on my Sky box. Series link doesn't work. Is there any way to get a notification of programmes like that via email or whatever?

Solo se 2 Bluetooth remote

Hi guys/gals. I have a vu solo se 2 that I absolutely love with an external usb hdd. Problem is that when I use the remote on the remote eye it struggles to receive instruction from the remote if I’m more than a meter away or slight glare off the the sun. Just wanted to ask if this is normal?

I have just read that a Bluetooth version has come out a while ago and am super excited about getting one of these but my box has only 1 USB port that I currently use for my hdd and would need a further one for the Bluetooth receiver. Does anyone know if a splitter would work in this situation so I can use the better remote?

Does Freeview re-encode AC3 to AAC?

I notice that the audio in Freeview TV programmes is AAC. Do Freeview re-encode the original AC3 audio (which is what's broadcast on freesat) to AAC or do they re-encode the master audio (uncompressed?) to AAC and then broadcast that?

AAC is 128 Kbps
AC3 is 384 Kbps or 192 Kbps depending on the channel.

Which gives better quality?

This GigaBlue box is really beginning to wind me up. Came back to UK yesterday and it had been working perfectly in France. Last night it was fine and all channels. This evening only 10 BBC channels. What the hell is going on with it??? And get Tune error on anything but BBC. Signal strength last night 96%, tonight 85%.
It is a bloody infuriating bit of kit.
